India’s beauty and personal care industry entered 2025 with two forces working in parallel: a structurally expanding consumer market and a faster-moving ingredient layer adapting to India’s climate, usage habits, and regulatory tightening. On the demand side, the India Brand Equity Foundation positions the beauty, cosmetics, and grooming market at around US$ 20 billion by 2025.

Refillable packaging isn’t new to the cosmetics and personal care industry – it’s been steadily infiltrating it for a couple of years, but its uptake still isn’t where it needs to be. For years, beauty brands have launched elegant refillable compacts, sleek aluminium deodorants, and reusable skincare jars. The concept is familiar,
but the challenge now is not awareness, but acceleration.

Every year there are countless trends. Trends for the beauty industry as a whole and those trends for each segment like ingredients, packaging etc. Here in COSSMA’s new trend series, we try to collect as many trends for 2025 as possible. And not just any trends – your most important ones. Which ingredients can not be ignored? How to pack your products now? What tools help to develop the best products? How can we use AI to our advantage? Throughout the year we hopefully will get answers to all those questions… and many more! Let’s stay up to date!

Cosmetic manufacturers are facing heightened scrutiny under evolving standards, such as the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act (MoCRA) of 2022. To preserve market share and stand apart from competitors, cosmetic manufacturers need to quickly assess and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) by December 29, 2025. Achieving GMP standards by incorporating cleanroom technology is revolutionizing beauty salons, spas, and cosmetic manufacturing facilities. This shift is not just about compliance; it’s about leading the market with enhanced quality, safety, and innovation. Here are the 5 things you need to know to meet changing regulations.

Social media’s impact on the beauty industry has been nothing short of remarkable. Brands are increasingly relying on digital platforms for quick and easy product launches, mass popularity, and near instant virality. Sometimes, all it takes is one influencer or a clever, eye-catching piece of marketing content to send a product skyrocketing across the globe. Leonora Eckley, Account Director, FMCG, Luxury, and Beauty at CARMA talks about how brands canmaster the art of balancing social and traditional media.

For beauty brands navigating the rapidly evolving landscape of cosmetic products,
understanding the emotional dimension of packaging remains essential. Successful packages don’t merely contain products, they
create moments of connection that strengthen loyalty. Jo Stephenson, Managing Director at Think B2B Marketing, talks about the
importance of personalized packaging.

The beauty industry is changing. Ingredients – their sourcing and their effects – become a
