The integration of Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) in packaging is key: Reprocessing existing plastics uses less energy and fossil fuels therefore reducing carbon footprint, making PCR a circular packaging option. In 2010, Albéa launched the first tube using PCR. The portfolio today includes four mixes of mechanical PCR: PCR Max, PCR Encore, PCR Beautiful, and PCR Ultimate, either combining PCR & virgin resin or PCR & biobased resins. The next step is to integrate PCR in the caps, the first launch being the Slight Cap with 70% PCR. The combination of a PCR tube body with a PCR cap increases the total PCR content in the tube up to 60% (tube D50, 200ml, sleeve with PCR Max Thin-Wall 350µm). These initiatives demonstrate Albéa’s commitment to reducing environmental impact while meeting consumer and industry demands. Albéa will continue to develop its PCR product range to offer brands alternatives to move towards more responsible solutions, meet their CSR goals and drive circularity forward.
