Prizewinners of the 3rd SEPAWA Innovation Award

The winner of this year’s SEPAWA Innovation Award which was handed over on the occasion of the SEPAWA gala dinner on October 15th in Fulda, was Firmenich’s perfumery ingredient Clearwood. This sustainable and cost-effective ingredient stems from the company’s white biotechnology platform. This ingredient is rich in patchoulol. It is obtained by fermentation of sustainable sugars. Its perfuming properties and odour notes place it in the patchouli, woody family.
The 2nd prize went to the company Follmann. They developed a new thermally opening core-shell microcapsule for industrial applications. The ingredient Neossance Hemisqualane from Amyris, distributed in Germany by Safic-Alcan, came third. The sugar-cane derived ingredient is a sustainable alternative to silicones.
