CREMER Care is committed to sustainability and clearly focused on the responsible use of natural resources in our daily business. The company understood early on that health, environmental awareness and traceability play just as large a role for consumers as quality and efficacy.
During the development of a new cosmetic formulation, the influences on the sustainability of the final product are varied. It is very important to carefully select the raw materials from reliable suppliers who work according to social, ecological and economical principles. At that the utilization of intelligent and efficient technologies saves energy during the production process. Cremer care is in a position to provide individual solutions for both aspects.
The use of palm oil (PO), palm kernel oil (PKO) and their derivatives in cosmetics has been controversially discussed over the past years. Deforestation of the rain forests, unjustified dispossession of farmers and child labor have been rightfully reclaimed. CREMER as one of the biggest manufacturers of fatty acid esters in Europe is aware of its responsibility in this business and already joined the Round Table of Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) in 2007; CREMER were granted the RSPO SCCS supply chain certificate in 2011.
In addition, CREMER recently became a member of the FONAP (Forum for Sustainable Palm Oil), an alliance of companies, associations and non-governmental organisations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland which seeks to work together to devise viable ways to improve practices in the palm oil sector. This membership underlines the company’s commitment to more transparency in the supply chain of palm oil and palm kernel oil and CREMER’s ambition to increase the proportion of segregated material to the greatest possible extent. Once again, CREMER is playing a pioneering role as a manufacturer of palm derived materials.
RSPO’s Mass Balance (MB) system can be considered as an important first improvement with regard to more transparency in the supply chain of palm and palm kernel oil-based raw materials. And CREMER is today already able to supply IMWITOR®, MIGLYOL®, SOFTISAN® and CremerCOOR® types based on PO or PKO with Mass Balance certification. Some of the company’s products even comply with the Identity Preserved (IP) or Segregation (SG) standards.
Dispensing with palm-based material without losing performance? CREMER’s IMWITOR® 375, a liquid O/W emulsifier, does not contain any palm based materials. Even in a cold processed form it gives your products a particular feel on the skin and stability.
CREMER’s W/O emulsifiers IMWITOR® 600 and CremerCOOR® PG3 DIS as well as CremerCOOR® PG4 Cocoate can also be offered as options without palm -based components.
Furthermore, the company has analysed different ways of producing emulsions with the aim of finding the most energy-efficient technique. The specialists at CREMER have developed a pre-emulsion method combining optimum energy savings with no restrictions in the use of raw materials with high melting points such as waxes. Production time is also reduced. CREMER’s IMWITOR® 372 P and IMWITOR® 375 can be ideally applied for this type of emulsification.
The new CremerCOOR® GC 810 also offers multifunctional benefits. Besides its wetting, solubilizing and emulsifying properties, CremerCOOR® GC 810 effectively helps to protect cosmetic formulations from microbiological spoilage.
Cremerlin®PURA, e.g. in a non palm version, or CremerVERO products certified by ECOCERT Greenlife according to the ECOCERT Standard for Natural and Organic Cosmetics round off our choice for the responsible development of cosmetic products.
RSPO certified materials, avoidance of palm-derived ingredients or environment-friendly processes such as cold emulsification are only some topics we cover with our product portfolio comprising emulsifiers, hard fats, emollients and multifunctional ingredients for all kinds of personal care and cosmetic applications from our own production facilities in Germany.
Flexibility is CREMER’s strength. The company creates tailor-made solutions together with their customer, either based on non-palm products or on certified segregated feedstock. CREMER will exhibit at In-Cosmetics in Hamburg from 1st – 3d of April 2014 – they will be delighted to tell you more about the concept behind “inspired by nature”.
