The Hamburg based company Lehmann & Voss & Co. (LuV) has three basic areas of business: trade, distribution and production of chemical and mineral specialities. The company has about 330 employees and in 2010 turned over 230 million Euros. The product group leader in the “Cosmetics Ingredients” section is Axel Kirchniawy, who has been with the company since 1988. Lehmann & Voss & Co. is a family-owned and family-run company, and since its founding in 1894, has always been close to its customers. As early as 1907 we opened an applications technology laboratory – which in those days was a real innovation! We realised at a very early stage that only by direct contact with our clients could we learn about their needs and be able to meet those needs. The same applies today. Where in other areas a great deal of money is invested in promotional activities, we have always focussed on personal contact with the customer’s own laboratory staff or purchasing people. The fact that we are also seen in the press, and at various events, is evidenced by this interview.
