Find Albéa at Luxe Pack Monaco from Oct. 1 - 3 on stand DE07. SLIM cap + THIN-WALL technology creates the lightest tube on the market: 33% weight reduction vs a standard cap + sleeve.

SLIM cap + THIN-WALL technology creates the lightest tube on the market: 33% weight reduction vs a standard cap + sleeve.

Designed to be flat and compact with sharp lines, the SLIM cap (made of polypropylen PP ) is among the lightest caps on the market. Creating a distinct break from the aesthetics of regular flip-tops, SLIM cap has a great visual impact on shelf. SLIM cap answers a major customer demand, featuring a shorter shoulder with ledges to prevent water from stagnating under the cap.

The SLIM cap is combined with the Albéa-patented THIN-WALL technology. The thickness of the polyethylene (PE) sleeve has been reduced from 500 to 350µm, a 30% reduction in thickness, offering a tube with a supple touch, close to a medium density standard tube with a restitution rate around 96%.

THIN-WALL technology also has a reduced carbon impact: for every 10,000 tubes produced, it saves the equivalent of a 1600km car ride (Brussel-Madrid) in CO2 emissions.

The tubes are fully recyclable in the current PE/PP recycling streams and are perfectly integrated in a circular economy to be re-used as PCR. From a carbon footprint perspective, SLIM cap & THIN-WALL technology reduce the carbon impact by 36% compared to a standard cap + sleeve.

The SLIM cap and THIN-WALL sleeve, produced in Argonne (France), our center of excellence for tubes, are available in a 50mm diameter and are fully customizable, from mass-tinted cap and sleeve to photo-like sleeve decoration.

  • PCR: moving towards a circular economy

PCR (Post-consumer recycled) plastic is made from single-use packaging (milk or beverage bottles) that is used and disposed of via recycling channels. Each year, Albéa produces 33 million PCR tubes, which can be fully recycled using existing collection systems (already present in Germany, Sweden, Italy, Spain, and Portugal; and in the process of being deployed in France, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom).

PCR reduces the carbon footprint by 16% (compared to a conventional Ø50 plastic tube Ø50, 200ml with a Cebal 500µm capsule). For every one million PCR tubes produced, we save the equivalent of 16 tons of CO2 (or 16 round-trip flights from Paris to New York for one person)*.

  • Bioplastic (PE) bottles and tubes

Albéa now offers bioplastic bottles and tubes that are suitable for foam products. These bioplastics, introduced by Albéa in 2010, are produced using Brazilian sugar cane. Throughout its growth cycle, sugar cane absorbs the CO2 it needs. The variety used to produce one kilo of bioplastic PE absorbs 3.09kg of CO2, the equivalent of emissions from leaving a light bulb on for six days.

The carbon footprint from manufacturing bioplastics is 76% lower than that of a Ø50, 200ml plastic tube with the CebalCap™ 500µm.
