Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna is celebrating its 55th edition with extremely positive results. Over 3,000 companies from all over the world have already confirmed their presence, and the exhibition area is sold out.

Confirming the international appeal of the event, it is noteworthy that 29 country pavilions will bring the best of their national production to Cosmoprof, with representatives from Australia, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Korea, Japan, Greece, Korea, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Czech Republic, Ukraine, UK, Taiwan Region, Turkey, USA. New additions compared to the 2023 edition include Estonia, Norway, Pacific Islands, Palestine, and Singapore.
Positive results in terms of exhibition offerings also impact visitor registrations and ticket sales. For the 2024 edition, online registration has been activated earlier than in previous editions, a strategy that has proven successful with significant growth compared to 2023, especially in registrations from international operators. The collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Italy and with ITA - Italian Trade Agency is encouraging the participation of the most important buyers and retailers from the most performing markets, with over 80 delegations already confirmed.
These results reflect the general confidence and optimism of the market, as well as the positive approach to the new format of the event, with all pavilions opening on the same day, Thursday, 21st March, facilitating interaction between distribution channels. Cosmopack and Cosmo Perfumery & Cosmetics will be open for 3 days and will close on Saturday, 23rd March. Pavilions dedicated to the professional channel of Cosmo Hair Nail & Beauty Salon will be open for 4 days and will close on Sunday, 24th March. The opening of all pavilions on Thursday will facilitate contacts between companies and international operators through all distribution channels.

The innovations of the supply chain at cosmopack

Cosmopack, the exhibition dedicated to the supply chain, is the only trade fair that hosts all sectors of the supply chain: ingredients and raw materials, contract manufacturing and private label, packaging, applicators, machinery, automation, and full-service solutions. The format gains vitality from the synergy with the finished product sectors of Cosmoprof, facilitating connections between suppliers and finished product companies.
Cosmopack is the cradle of innovations and new collections, serving as a source of inspiration for both market-leading companies and independent brands. For the 2024 edition, over 550 companies from more than 40 countries have already confirmed their participation. New technologies, innovative packaging solutions, and cutting-edge production processes await stakeholders from Thursday, 21st March, to Saturday, 23rd March. The exhibition dedicated to the supply chain is continuously growing: for the upcoming March 2024 edition, Cosmopack will also cover Pavilion 28 for an even richer exhibition offering.
Within Cosmopack, in Pavilion 20, the Ingredients Zone will host suppliers of raw materials, ingredients, essential oils, and fragrances for bulk cosmetics for the second consecutive edition, allowing them to connect with key customers for their business: on one side, contract manufacturers exhibiting at Cosmopack; on the other side, finished product brands, whether they are visitors or exhibitors in the adjacent pavilions of Cosmoprof. The ingredients sector plays an increasingly strategic role: in an economy that is becoming more circular and with growing attention to a more sustainable development of all human activities, ingredients are the starting point for the cosmetic supply chain to study new solutions that reduce the environmental impact of the beauty industry.
Among companies showcasing in the Ingredients Zone, AAKON-Polichimica, BEE VENOM LAB, bio_az, ECSA-Chemicals, Exolab-Italia, Expressions Parfumees, Faravelli, Fenchem, FS, Herbatlas, Iwase, John Kellys, KBT Global Science, LifeAnalytics ABICH, Melbec, NSW Toscana Trading, Scents from Nature, Sytheon, TriBeaute, VO Aromatique.
From an analysis of the proposals that the companies in the Ingredients Zone will bring to Cosmopack at the next edition of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, Deanna Utroske, renown expert in cosmetic industry processes and innovations, as well as supply chain processes and partner for communication and promotion of Cosmopack 2024, highlighted that the cosmetic ingredients of tomorrow start by extracting information from plants.
“In some cases, that information is a literal extract that is then bended or processed by distillation or fermentation. In other cases, it’s literally information that is then translated into advanced manufacturing techniques or synthetic organic chemistry to produce beauty ingredients”, highlights Utroske.
Utroske put under the spotlights the most interesting launches by a shortlist of exhibitors. ExoLab Italia, for example, produces new innovative ingredients using plant exosomes derived from Italian organic fruits and vegetables. Plant-derived exosomes (PDEs) are safe, non-toxic, naturally beneficial, and an optimal drug delivery system. ExoLab Italia’s specialty is not only the PDE science but the combining of PDEs for optimal skincare (and soon haircare) benefits.
Sparxell technology centers on information gathered about the photonic structures in plant and animals. Leveraging this science, Sparxell makes colorants for cosmetics as well as for other industries by creating a large film with a given photonic structure; and this film is comprised of cellulose nanocrystals. Sparxell’s pigments are particularly wellsuited for a wide range of cosmetic applications, [including,] eye shadows, lipsticks, nail polishes, hair dyes, and other makeup products, and sunscreen.
Synthetic organic chemistry is the core business of Sytheon. This New Jersey (US) – based ingredient maker got its start in 2006 when Dr. Ratan K. Chaudhuri, retired Technical Director of Merck Personal Care USA, decided to go into business making skincare ingredients that are both “inspired by nature” and “promote healthy skin.” Sytheon will be showing Bakuchiol (Sytenol A, INCI: Bakuchiol) and Chebula (Synastol TC, INCI: Terminalia chebula fruit extract) in the Ingredients Zone this coming March. Both Bakuchiol and Chebula have a long history of use in Ayurveda and Traditional Indian Medicine. India is an increasingly important market to sell into and to source from.
