So far over 113 cannabinoids have been identified and isolated. Out of these, CBD (Cannabidiol) and THC (Tetrahydrocannabidiol) are undoubtedly the most well-known and the most well-researched.

Cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are both naturally occurring compounds found in plants of the cannabis genus. However, they differ primarily in their physiological effects: CBD does not generate a “high” effect, whereas THC does.

For cosmetics, CBD is more commonly used due to its potential benefits for skin. These include its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, which are beneficial for anti-ageing, and its ability to conserve water in the skin, which helps to hydrate and replenish when used in beauty and personal care.

Kuida products are made from CBD, a non-psychoactive cannabis component that has a long history of natural uses. Recent research has found that our bodies – including our skin – have natural receptors, which are related to endocannabinoids, molecules produced organically by the body. These receptors also react to the cannabinoids as found in CBD.

Preliminary studies on cannabidiol and the skin have shown that CBD can help to maintain balance and address common conditions, such as ageing and dryness. To further enhance the effect of CBD, we have developed our proprietary CBDERM technology, which creates a synergy between CBD and other active ingredients to increase the antioxidant action while also ensuring fast absorption and light textures.

Since Kuida is produced by Khiron Life Sciences, a licensed medical cannabis producer, all of our products are required to be formulated according to high standards of quality, production and regulation. Each product developed is supported using studies, lab tests, and safety data to prove their benefits for skin. Our medical team, headed by Dr Edwin Bendek, continually validates our products with scientific evidence. Some of our laboratory studies have shown that our formulation offers more antioxidant action compared with Vitamin E.

We have also signed an agreement with one of the most prominent research hospitals in Colombia, Centro Dermatológico Federico Lleras Acosta, to develop clinical trials focused on the effectiveness of cannabis for dermatological conditions. These will be the first of such studies conducted in Latin America.

Our hope is that the results will have a strong impact in our product innovation. After all, advancing CBD research is crucial to our mission of creating safe, effective and scientifically proven CBD products for consumers around the world.

There is still so much more to learn about the effects of CBD on the skin. For example, it can have potent anti-inflammatory properties, which is something that requires further exploration and research.

For our products, we use a very pure form of CBD, with a priority to meet the highest production quality and to adhere to licensing and regulatory requirements. We use this specific form of CBD as our ultimate goal to validate CBD as an effective ingredient for skin and personal care through scientifically-backed and safe products. In addition, we aim to reach all consumers, including those who may be new to using CBD products, and perhaps a bit nervous about incorporating this novel ingredient into their beauty routine. By using its isolated form, we hope to make CBD and our products more accessible to everyone, from first-time users to experienced CBD consumers.
