The Dutch cosmetics association NCV (Nederlandse Cosmetica Vereniging) has published the results of their study „Jeugd uitgelicht“ which is based on the German study on young people „Jugend ungeschminkt“ – Youth undisguised.

More than 70 % of the young people in the Netherlands and in Germany indicate that cosmetics are very important for them. With the help of beauty products they succeed in covering up spots  and to look well-groomed even when hormones go haywire. 99% of the Dutch girls (89% of the German girls) and 77% of the boys (75% of the German boys) use a deodorant every day. A shower gel and a shampoo are in addition to a mascara and hair styling products are popular products that are used several times a week.

Using these products does not only provide self-confidence but also makes them feel they are in control. More than 80% of both studies maintain that they feel more secure when using personal care products. And feeling secure is very important for young people.

Longing for stability

In Germany and the Netherlands 80% of the young people indicate that they seek stability and security. 66% of the Dutch claim that that they behave in a way that is expected of them. And more than half of the young people want to avoid negative attention at all cost. 62% oft he girls want to be considered nice. Young men find it important to earn a lot of money.
