Düllberg Konzentra is strengthening its operations in South-East Asia with a new research and development centre in Jakarta, Indonesia. The new centre was opened on 25 September 2018, is a clear signal of the company’s strategic orientation.
The new R&D Center in the area of the mega-city of Jakarta will have a dedicated perfumer whose team specialises in developing and marketing products for Indonesia and the entire region.
The Hamburg-based company already does a lot of business in Indonesia, one of the most densely populated countries in the world and the largest economy in South-East Asia. It has one of the highest growth rates worldwide for fragrances and beauty care: Indonesia is forecast to become one of the Top 5 markets for cosmetics in the next 10 to 15 years. The most promising segments include fine Fragrances, bazar Fragrances, soaps, cleansers and detergents.
The availability of a wide variety of raw materials and ingredients from the region is another factor in favour of the location: Indonesia is rich in natural resources and is an important supplier of essential oils and important raw materials such as cloves, nutmeg, vetiver and citronella; for instance, 90% of the global supply of patchouli comes from Indonesia.
