The latest reports and discussions are proving: The compatibility of personal care products with the environment plays an increasingly important role in manufacturing and sales. EcoSun Pass from BASF’s Care Creations® aims to help formulators develop sunscreens that are as gentle as possible on nature.
„As the global market leader in sun care ingredients, we want to drive progress forward much more and see the EcoSun Pass as an important tool to further research and development in the personal care field," says Marcel Schnyder, Head of Global Technical Center Sun Care. EcoSun Pass makes it possible to check for harmful environmental effects of sunscreen formulations based on the latest scientific findings. Internationally recognized criteria such as biodegradability, bioaccumulation and aquatic toxicity are some of the key parameters for evaluation.
The data can help manufacturers to draw important environmentally relevant conclusions when developing future products and to evaluate the environmental compatibility of their UV filters. The aim of this new methodology in future is to bring formulas and sunscreens to the market with a better environmental acceptance.
