Awantys, Stand VA05, presents Awyverde (see lead photo), an ecological packaging solution without additional costs or limitations in the packaging’s performance. The new primary packaging is suitable for skin care, decorative cosmetics and fragrances. RCM-1801, the underlying material, is 30%–90% more economical than known bioplastics such as PLA or PHB. It consists of 2/3 renewable inputs such as cellulose and 1/3 minerals, thus avoiding microplastics pollution. In addition, given that the material is produced through compounding, the amount of energy required for its production is significantly lower than in the refining processes for the extraction of conventional plastics. While meeting cosmetics’ legal requirements regarding migration properties, the new primary packaging is recyclable and certified for industrial composting by TÜV Austria. It also decomposes in home compost, water and nature after five to ten years. Unlike packaging from other biomaterials, it not only releases water and carbons during its decomposition, but also minerals that serve as nutrients for plants and micro-organisms. It is produced in conventional injection moulds and can be coloured so that no investment in special equipment is required. In addition, decorations such as metallisation, varnishing, pad or silk-screen printing, as well as hot foil stamping are feasible.

Quadpack, Stand RB10, developed the Franck Muller perfume bottle Precision, bringing together the art of horology and perfume. Franck Muller, the Swiss watchmaker, created five eau de parfums. Quadpack’s series of sketches for bottles were inspired by the form of a classic, elongated watch face, with the cap representing the watch’s crown. Once the hand-drawn concept was approved, 2D drawing, a digitally-generated image of the design, can be refined by both client and manufacturer. The prototype 3D printing has accelerated the early stages of bespoke packaging development and made them more cost-effective. The bottle sides and cap were screen-printed in a shiny gold, leaving the interior frames on the front and rear faces clear. A composition of clock-face numbers were laser-cut onto the rear face which, when viewed from the front, seemingly ‘dance’ through the perfume’s liquid sheen. The front face was silk-screened with the brand’s logo and the fragrance reference.

Stölzle, Stand RE04, realised for The Move, Mercedes-Benz a nomadic bottle with an organic and simple design to be sprayed any time with a simple and fast gesture.

The realisation of this bottle by Stoelzle Masnières Parfumerie required precision both for the rendering of the engraving of the Mercedes-Benz star and especially at the neck to obtain a precise docking of the spray cap, thus ensuring the continuity of the organic profile. For the decor, a lacquered background with slight gradient in the base of the curve emphasises the bottle’s elegance.

After the creation of Superga Beauty, Stand DB23, (resulting from a merger of BPS and Manifesto Factory), the company realised a project for the niche brand HOC History Olfactive Collective.

HOC is an atypical brand offering a new olfactory approach to niche trading.

The design of the three versions of the fragrance range London City has Thierry de Baschmakoff’s hallmarks. The bottle has vibrantly-coloured adornment on its four outer sides.

The original engraving that tells the perfume’s story is revealed and magnified on the top of the magnetic cap.

Each fragrance is presented in an elegant magnetised wooden box with a matte varnish finish bearing the brand’s monogram.

The refillable jar can incorporate a protective case, thereby reducing the packaging impact on the environment. This innovation allows the user to simply open the refill and click it into the refillable jar. Both refill and protective case are made of PP, a mono material, making it easier to recycle due to more readily available recycling streams.
