NaTrue supports Organic Monitor’s Sustainable Cosmetics summit
Organic Monitor is holding a series of international summits that focus on sustainability in the beauty industry. The events will examine key issues the industry faces concerning sustainability, natural, organic, fair trade and ecological products.
The inaugural summit takes place in Frankfurt on 16 and 17 November, focussing on industry developments, CSR & sustainability best-practices as well as green formulations. It comprises a one-day conference as well as two interactive workshops. NaTrue is one of the supporting partners of the summit and both representatives of the NaTrue Secretariat as well as NaTrue member companies will actively participate in the various sessions.
George Korres, founder and CEO of Korres Natural Products, will kick off the summit with an opening address titled ‘Building a sustainable future through natural cosmetics’. He will be followed by speakers from leading Natural Cosmetic firms such as Weleda and Laverana. A key focus is to provide case studies of companies who are successfully meeting ethical and ecological challenges.
The programme is divided into three plenary sessions and two workshops.
The first session will give an update on the global Natural Cosmetics industry. The latest figures on the global market for Natural & Organic cosmetics will be presented, as well as the major trends & developments. Standards for Natural Cosmetics are another key topic and NaTrue will present its standard in this session.
The second session focuses on CSR and sustainability best-practices. The opening presentation will show how the environmental impact of cosmetic products can be reduced. Other presentations will look at ethical sourcing, biodiversity preservation, waste reduction and offsetting carbon emissions.
Green formulations
The third session focuses on green formulations, covering experiences in sourcing and using fair trade ingredients from developing countries as well as technical & formulation hurdles that companies face with natural and organic cosmetics. A NaTrue scientific expert will provide valuable insights.
