Are Indie brands still worth the hype? Find out what Indie Brand Founders and Creators have to share at COSSMA’s roundtable on April 17, 14.15 – 15.00 in the Marketing Trends Theatre at In-Cosmetics.

This round table, moderated by COSSMA editor Angelika Meiss will feature Camilla Marcus-Dew, Co-Founder of the ethical luxury personal care brand The Soap Co., Zeze Oriaikhi-Sao, Founder of the luxury fragrance, bath and body care range from South Africa Malée Natural Science and Nick Vaus, Partner and Creative Director at the brand design consultancy DewGibbons + Partners.

From concept to counter within 5 months: Camila Marcus-Drew launched The Soap Co. in 2015, an ethical luxury brand with sophisticated body care products targeting a new market segment. Based in East London, and with a traditional workshop in the Lake District, all products are handcrafted in the UK by people who are blind, disabled or otherwise disadvantaged. The company pays attention where it matters, from their award-winning minimalist design to locally sourced bottles and compostable soap wrappers. Only natural botanicals, nourishing vitamins and pure essentials oils are used for the paraben-free products. In order to reduce the impact on the environment, the ingredients, bottles and labels wherever possible are sourced from UK suppliers. Bottles are made from old milk bottles and have a 45% lower environmental impact than regular PET bottles. The film used looks and acts like plastic but is made from renewable wood pulp. The sticky labels of the products can be composted. Paper is both recycled and recyclable and the glue is non-toxic and bio-degradable.

Zeze Oriaikhi-Sao is a Nigerian born business woman who was educated in the UK, She created the brand Malée in 2009. Not long after launch, a Malée store opened in Johannesburg, and the range was quickly stocked by many of the country’s upscale hotels and spas, and now the products are also available in the UK.

Each of the 58 SKU product range contains natural active ingredients from the African plains, found in the average kitchen cup-board and in use over generations, such as shea butter, cacao seed butter and avocado oil.

Nick Vaus is Partner and Creative Director of DewGibbons + Partners and responsible for the delivery of all creative output across the consultancy’s Beauty & Health brands specialism. The company helps indie brands succeed in a hugely competitive market with beautiful design, which helps beauty entrepreneurs carve out a space on that crowded shelf, by shaping a unique brand story and bringing it to life through a distinct visual identity and verbal language. And as the company works with some of the world’s most successful largest beauty brands, they combine practical shelf knowledge with the indie brand’s passion and translate it into commercial success.

Don’t miss what these passionate indie experts will want to share at the round table “Are Indie brands still worth the hype?” on April 17, 14.15 – 15.00 in the Marketing Trends Theatre during this year’s In-Cosmetics Global held at Amsterdam’s RAI trade show centre.
