The company’s latest Body Care for Seniors report highlights opportunities for those choosing to promote active ingredients among European seniors a group which uses more body care products than any other age demographic. The report’s key message is that pushing key active ingredients to the fore in the product mix could encourage trial from older Europeans who are generally less inclined to experiment with new body care products, especially in France and Germany. Promoting ingredients, for example on the front of packs, is one of the leading influences on the purchase of body care products never tried before among over-55s, particularly for French and Spanish seniors.

In the future, we expect to see more neuropeptides and combinations promoted by anti-ageing facial care brands looking to maximise a ‘botox-like’ appearance over the next few years. Meanwhile, more natural extracts with epigenetic effects will enter the market to combat skin ageing. To further enhance anti-ageing benefits, brands need to investigate the use of these actives to complement others with different mechanisms of action. Finally, while anti-pollution beauty is becoming almost mainstream, our company’s latest research finds that the European market lags behind Asia and the US in this area but it concludes that new active ingredients and technologies □are here to help.

Anti-pollution care inspired by epigenetic science

In the UK, the !QMS MediCosmetics range developed by Dr med. Erich Schulte includes EpiGen Daily-Detox Serum. This serum is designed to provide targeted action against the impact of pollution on skin. It features a peptide inspired by epigenetics, a physiological reprogramming process that occurs in the cell without changing the DNA sequence, along with a blend of other ingredients to help the skin cells free themselves from internally and externally created pollutants, whilst supporting the detox process.
