China Beauty Expo 2015: Bursting with activities and infinite business opportunities


China Beauty Expo (CBE), Asia’s largest beauty trade show, is set to take place in Shanghai from 19 – 21 May 2015, and will build on its success from the 19th edition last year. CBE 2014 welcomed more than 252,000 visitors from 80 countries and regions, as well as hosted 1,837 exhibiting companies.

Commemorating its 20th anniversary, China Beauty Expo 2015 will once again be the gathering point for global industry professionals, covering 140,000 sqm of exhibition area. 2015 will welcome exhibitors from 27 countries, including new exhibitors from Australia, India, Israel, New Zealand, Switzerland, UK and USA.

THE gateway to China and Asian markets
A market with immense potential, China has over 1 billion consumers. According to iResearch, China’s cosmetics retail market was RMB404.4 billion (approximately USD65 billion) in 2014. The growth rate is expected to remain above 20% for the next five (5) years and forecast to be worth more than RMB700 billion in 2017. It is definitely a market to be part of, for manufacturers and brands who want to extend their reach.

CBE 2015 will host 2,000 exhibitors and more than 7,000 booths, over 150,000 sqm of exhibition space. With the participation of numerous renowned international brands such as Alban Muller (France), Fiabila (France), L'ORÉAL (France), Syneron (Israel), Venus Concept (Israel), Intercos (Italy), COSMAX (Korea), Kolmar (Korea), LG (Korea), SYMRISE (Germany) and P&G (USA), CBE is the ideal platform for cosmetics manufacturers, brands and agents to penetrate the Chinese and Asian markets.

The beauty industry’s distribution channels are constantly developing. To keep abreast the constant evolution, CBE 2015 will be the gathering point for 250,000 trade visitors, hailing from all networks, including department stores, shopping malls, supermarkets, specialty and chain stores, e-commerce and mobile commerce. With a range of show features and activities, CBE 2015 aim to provide insight, as well as networking opportunities to meet the needs of manufacturers, brand owners and retailers.

In order to maximise the impact of this platform and further expand its global reach, Claudia Bonfiglioli has been appointed the International Director of Informa Beauty and Informa Baiwen. Claudia will be placing more emphasis on developing Informa Beauty further in Asia and the Middle East. As the former International Director of SoGeCos Milano (Cosmoprof beauty platforms) and General Manager of SoGeCos France, Claudia Bonfiglioli brings on board 20 years of invaluable experience and expertise in the beauty industry.

2016 Country of Honor – Republic of Korea
CBE is pleased to announce the appointment of the Republic of Korea as the Country of Honor for 2016. The appointment further cements the ongoing collaboration between CBE and South Korea. In 2016, visitors can enjoy the Korean experience at China Beauty Expo. Details are being confirmed and will be announced shortly. For the 15th year, South Korea will form the biggest proportion of international exhibitors participating in CBE. More than 120 South Korean exhibitors will use CBE as an international platform to showcase the latest and best of Korea’s beauty products and services.

Cosmetics Retail Summit
The 5th China Cosmetics Retail Summit will be held at the Shanghai International Convention Center on 18 May 2015. About 1,000 cosmetics chain store owners, agents, management from supermarkets and department stores as well as the media, will gather to discuss the hot topics in China’s cosmetics industry, then industry’s upcoming trends, as well as seek solutions to retailers’ operations issues. The theme for this edition is “Re-designing the Retail Ecosystem”.

Mobile Commerce Section / Congress
2014 saw the rapid rise of brands engaging mobile commerce as a distribution channel, particularly that of WeChat. Deemed as the best platform by many brands to enter the Chinese market, WeChat was also utilized to gain popularity and brand-recognition quickly amongst consumers. Acknowledging this new phenomenon, CBE has established the Mobile Commerce Committee and the Mobile Commerce Association, and will be hosting the inaugural Mobile Commerce Purchasing Conference, Mobile Commerce Summit and China Cosmetics Mobile Marketing Conference.

Asian Brand Building Lab
Asian features and beauty needs are very specific. As such, it is critical to not just directly apply Western trends. New at CBE 2015 is the Asian Brand Building Lab (ABBL) - a unique space dedicated to reinventing and consultation for Asian beauty brands. Partnering Centdegres, an independent creative agency with over 30 years of international and local expertise in the beauty industry, ABBL offers possibilities and opportunities for Asian beauty brands to stand out from the crowd by getting ideas and advice on image creation, advertisement positioning and retail strategies on WeChat, from the world’s top designers, alongside international brands.

Beyond Beauty Trends
In conjunction with the newly-launched ABBL, CBE will welcome a selection of international speakers to lead the first edition of "CBE – Beyond Beauty Trends 2015", a conference program specially designed to showcase upcoming global beauty trends. The exciting lineup of speakers include Beautystreams (USA), Firmenich (Switzerland), Mintel (USA), Pochet (France) and FACO (China). Topics on the latest trends in the beauty and packaging industry, R&D, packaging materials, design, law and regulations will be explored.

Beauty Match Online
Through CBE’s Beauty Match Online business matching platform, all exhibitors and visitors can connect with each other before and at the show. With this intuitive online system, participants are able to select, accept and/or reject who they want to meet with at CBE. The smart scheduler powered by relevant recommendations ensures that participants are able to easily set up meetings amongst each other. The Beauty Match Online portal will be live shortly.

Business Meetings Asia – 1-to-1 focused meetings
Selected exhibitors and VIP buyers will get together for a half-day focused B2B business meetings on 18 May 2015, in the comfort of a designated meeting space. 25-min pre-arranged meetings, according to participants’ needs and requirements, ensures the best use of their time.

China Professional Beauty and Anti-aging Congress
“Success through Integration” is the theme for 2015. A gathering of local and international medical beauty experts will explore the industry’s current climate in China, global trends and latest topics, seeking resolutions in the issues faced by the industry. At the same time, this will be a platform for exchange of knowledge, technology and experience, creating opportunities for interaction and collaboration.

Beauty Ingredients & Formulation Shanghai 2015 (BI&F)
