According to the latest Mintel research, format and texture innovations, with multiple benefits or convenience in mind, and specialised sunscreens are emerging to add value to the sun care market. Some of the latest innovations in this category include specialised care and protection, such as product launches that provide care for micro-pigmented skin, tattoos, hands, scalp and hair. 

Others include protection against pollution, insect bites, blue light or ageing. Self-tan and after-sun are small sun care segments, but we are convinced that more can be done to boost consumer interest and usage. Self-tan NPD needs to re-focus on convenience and shade quality, while after-sun NPD can better advertise specialised and ‘expert’ benefits such as the ability to prolong a tan, cool the skin and limit peeling).
