A range of silicones and lots of new ideas
GE Bayer Silicones will be at In-Cosmetics on stand W90 showing 5 new ingredients: the very volatile Silsoft ETS Trisiloxane, which sensorially is comparable to cyclical silicones; Velvesil DM and Velvesil Plus (two line extensions of the Velvesil range) as well as the Baysilone TP 3744 and TP 3784 blends for colour cosmetics.

Good things come in threes: new hair conditioners
The Amylomer hair care range from Dr. Straetmans (Stand J74 at In-Cosmetics) produced using replenishable resources, offers good skin tolerance, improved bio-degradability and improved sensory properties in comparison with conventional conditioners. They have a low build-up effect and help to compensate for deficiencies in other components of the formulation. Here Kurt Dietker, product manager for hair care ingredients at Dr. Straetmans, presents the new additions to the range: Amylomer CAT 2531 HMW conditioner for porous hair, the totally biodegradable Amylomer 340 ES, and Amylomer CAT 220 EMU, a conditioner with co-emulsifier properties that stabilises refatting substances in hair care products.

Formulations: Colour cosmetics
There is probably no other cosmetics product category driven so much by innovation. A very important aspect of recent product launches has been mascara. For a particularly striking flicker of the eyelids we bring you, in this issue a formulation for a silver glitter volume mascara from Merck. It is compatible with all pearlised pigments, iron oxides and titanium dioxide.
