Tim Eaves points out that Technotraf which was recently acquired by Quadpack is a leading manufacturer of wood products for the fragrance and beauy market. Technotraf started in 1987 and pioneered the use of wood in the beauty packaging market.Eaves gives some examples of what they did in wood in the luxury sector, like "Burberry Touch" or a wooden bottle for Issey Miyake, as well as powder compacts in wood or a range of perfume caps. He shows what challenges had to be met when working with wood in luxury packaging and in what product categories he sees potential for the future in wooden packaging - classical fragrance, but expanding into colour cosmetics and skin care. Tim Eaves also makes clear what types of wood can be used and how different wooden structures can be imitated.
